I only got to go out Saturday evening from 4pm to 7pm. However it was rather fruitfull. My 1st fish was a solid 17" fish, 3lbs maybe. Then I saw a toad hanging next to a log. I got the fish to blow up on my bait but did not get it. A few cast later I had an explosion and it resulted in a 22" bass, 6.8 lbs on the conversion chart.

Do you fish the BFL in Music City? I used to and moved to twin cities and now fish with Gopher. Seems we switched places! I have several friends that Fish the BFL and Flippers tournaments on Old Hickory.
My go-to bait down there was a 1/2 oz rattletrap (Sparkletrap grey/white/green fleck) with a red gamagatsu hook on the front; red hooks are important and any color spinnerbaits as long as they are white are good as well. Crawfish shad raps in the real shallow rocks work really well on priest in early spring for spots. 1 minus cranks were also very productive over the grass and around wood.
I love MN with the exception that the fishing season is too short! I'm winterizing my boat next weekend.

I fish the Bassmaster Weekend Series Vols Division or Div. 3 I think it is. I plan to fish the BFL Music div. in 2008. I fish a few Flippers on the Hick. I don't particularly like that like and it does not care much for me. This year has been tough - no current and very little grass and 95 degree water. Ya 95 is right - hard to believe for that lake. Priest is amazingly producing fish all year. As much as it gets pounded and still go out and catch fish. I fished for 3 hrs sunday and had 20 fish on one hole. I would have to say my go to bait on each lake is a watermelon jig. Cranks would be next in the DT Series in Bluegill or Parrot. It is hard to beat a SWL Spinnerbait in white on either one of those lakes. We all know spring time is Shad Rap time around rock - I am partial to red craw.
I like MN too but ya fishing is too short, what is up with a season on bass? I never have to winterize my boat down here. I fish on through the winter on Priest and occassionally head to guntersville.
How did you hook up with that group of Gophers? How on earth did you all let Rich make a come back?

I scratch my head about having a bass fishing season. I love MN, but hate the short season! I hooked up with Gopher after reading their website and sending in an inquiry to the BASS Federation. Several clubs contacted me but I liked the fact that they take the time to pick up trash at the ramps after tournaments. They are a good group of guys and good fishermen who don't mind sharing their tips and tricks. BTW If Rich is fishing any tournament, he's always a contender! I did manage to beat him in one tournament this year though!
